With signature secrecy, the creative team remains tight-lipped, other than to say that they are pulling out all the stops to deliver another dynamite production and ensure that as many comics as possible are able to cast their vote smoothly, accurately and easily. Registration to become eligible for nominations opened today and will close on the 13^th of May 2013. Thereafter, between 16 May and 14 July, the public will have a chance to vote for their favourite comedian in the ‘Audience Choice’ category while at the same time, comedians vote for the registered comedians in the other Award Categories. These nominees will all be announced, together with the Lifetime Achiever Recipient during the Press Lunch on the 17^th of July.

The show will once again incorporate fantastic collaborations, sketches, stand up and a few wildly unlikely appearances. With the addition of “The Grilling Of A Lifetime” to the calendar (to be held on the 01^st of August at Parker’s Comedy at Montecasino), and the brand new “Winner’s Lap Showcase” (to be held on the 12^th of October at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City), The South African Comic’s Choice Awards™ are truly committed to celebrating excellence in comedy, and pushing for the very highest levels of quality in terms of production.

With sponsors already signing on, and acts beginning to approach the team to propose content, “The Art Of Funny” rolls into production soon, with Comedian Registration opening today. Registration fees will include tickets to “The Grilling Of A Lifetime” event, “The Art Of Funny” Awards Show and the now famous After-party.

After a fantastically successful Awards show, the Annual South African Comic’s Choice Awards™ is happy to announce a showcase dedicated to the very best of new talent in: The Winner’s Lap Showcase.

“As everyone knows, comedy has grown exponentially over the last few years, with the big acts getting huge amounts of coverage and attention. In the spirit of the awards, we decided to create an opportunity for the comics who are still rising up the ranks to play a beautiful big venue, and so we booked the Lyric for them,” says Keiron Whitemore, who works on the awards.

“Of course, everyone expects us to feature the winners in all the categories – but they often have more than enough work, so we felt it would be great to feature the freshest talent – that’s why this particular line-up was assembled.”

The show will include nominees from the Newcomer, and the BlackBerry® Breakthrough Award categories, as well as the Recipient of the Audience Choice Award, and the headliners of each half will be the award recipients in each category.

The first show promises to be a brilliant line-up featuring: Dillan Oliphant, Tats Nkonzo and Sifiso Nene, along with Robby Collins, Mpho Popps Modikoane, Jason and Donovan Goliath and Monique Nortje.
